766. Giro della Busa (Cross Country) + INFO (GPX KML)Duration: h 1:53Distance: 16,2Ascent: 188

A short ride, within everybody's reach, that touches upon the three communes of la “Busa”: the local dialect name for the land between Riva del Garda, Torbole and Arco.

This itinerary, with a length of 16 kilometres and an altitude difference of around only 200 meters is suited to a range of abilities.

The term “busa” identifies the basin of land at the very North of Lake Garda: between Riva del Garda, Torbole and Arco. The itinerary forms a loop, offering a diverse range of view points and refreshment stops.

If you would like to do the route with children then please be aware that: The only really challenging feature of this ride, from a physical point of view, is the climb from Torbole to Nago: around 1.5 km in length, with an average gradient of 10%, and constant sun exposure. It is also recommended to pay particular attention to the two main road crossings.

734. Malga Grassi + INFO (GPX KML)Duration: h 4:37Distance: 23,7Ascent: 1.046

A classic of Garda Trentino with climbs to satisfy the most serious cyclist. The route is also suitable for the battery charge of current e-bikes. The first part has an insidious (but avoidable) descent.

The 734 route is suitable for All Mountain bikes, or avoiding the first downhill stretch, also Cross Country. The ascent, with an altitude difference of just over 1000 meters develops largely on asphalt, dirt and gravel sections. The average gradient is just under 10%, however at some points it reaches and surpasses 15%. The first descent really is wild: you’ll either love it or hate it! The rocky ground is very loose and for those who don’t have confidence on this type of terrain, it could prove a bit too challenging.

There is the option instead to descend from Campi, where the terrain is much more stable with a gradually increasing gradient. The final part, on concrete, exceeds 20% with a breathtaking view of Riva and Alto Garda.
Take note: when descending it is advisable to check your speed and brake using the front and rear brakes - especially during the autumn season or when the ground is wet.

With a small detour, you can visit the quaint village of Pranzo, where there is a fresh, cool fountain near to the church.

750. Marocche + INFO (GPX KML)Duration: h 3:20Distance: 28,9Ascent: 284

A simple tour, accessible to many. Starting from Arco, the route covers both sides of the Sarca valley, offering diverse and beautiful views.

This tour develops on the western bank of the Sarca river, with long stretches of easy forest track. Notably also, at the foot of some famous climbing areas.

On the return leg, the route, for the majority of the time, follows a cycle path on the other side of the river. Overall, the route terrain is mostly stable, and there are no overly technical stretches - except perhaps for a short uphill stretch, near to Pietramurata. Here the terrain is rather bumpy, also becoming exposed towards the summit. N.b. This section is the only one attributed with an ‘S1’ level of difficulty otherwise, the route is ‘S0’. Generally speaking, the gradients are never prohibitive and exceed 10% only in a few places.

Points of interest include; l'eremo di San Paolo (the hermitage of San Paolo), the Marocche di Dro, le Pareti Zebrate, and la parete del Monte Brento, (the mountain faces of Zebrate and Monte Brento).

A must-see, is the Roman Bridge of Ceniga: in addition to its architectural interest it’s also a pleasant stopping point on the hottest days.

759. Monte Velo + INFO (GPX KML)Duration: h 5:31Distance: 28,0Ascent: 1.207

Monte Velo is a classic destination in Alto Garda. The route described here has quite a challenging ascent but no particular technical difficulty on the way down.

An elevation gain of 1200 metres and a total distance of 28 km for a tour which is largely on forest trails. The average gradient on the ascent which takes you from Bolognano to Malga Fiavei is around 12%, without a moment of respite.
Shortly after you leave the town, the surface turns into a dirt track, quite rough terrain in sections. Then the gradient levels off a bit and you come to a number of panoramic viewing points overlooking the lower Sarca Valley.

Leaving the town of Bolognano which is at the bottom of the ascent, remember that you will not find any more fresh water springs until you come to Carobbi: make sure to bring enough water for the trip.

The downhill run is on an easy forest trail which takes you to Carobbi and from there on you are on paved roads with short stretches of cement, until you get to the bottom of the valley. The snack bar mentioned at the end is not always open.

This route characterized by its long ascent along the slopes of Monte Velo is recommended for emtb enthusiasts.

732. Ponale - Rifugio "Nino Pernici" + INFO (GPX KML)Duration: h 8:41Distance: 39,0Ascent: 2.073

A classic tour of Garda Trentino: a satisfying ascent for the fit and well within the capacity of the battery of current e-bikes; treacherous, “old style” descent.

Route 732 is an old style All Mountain trail. The elevation gain is close to 1700 metres, with some of the climbs pretty tough, and long stretches on road. Along the almost 40 km of the trail, the scenery changes often and is definitely breathtaking but it is not a tour for everyone.

The mountain huts Nino Pernici and Grassi are classic destinations for anyone familiar with Garda Trentino. The proposed descent is truly wild, either you love it or you hate it. The terrain is rocky, very rough and quite steep; for anyone who is not at their ease in this kind of terrain it could turn out to be a nightmare. From Campi onward, the track surface is much more stable and easy. The final part, on cement, has a gradient of more than 20% with a view over Riva and the Upper Lake that is simply impossible to describe. On this final stretch, you have to check your speed and make sure to use both brakes as needed, especially if wet and in the autumn.

745. San Giovanni - Bondiga - Rancion + INFO (GPX KML)Duration: h 6:00Distance: 32,0Ascent: 1.826

Quite a physically challenging tour with much of the ascent on paved road. The surface varies greatly throughout the descent; in particular, the stretch from Ranciom to Vandrino has some steep loose sections.

With its 1300 m elevation gain and a distance of just over 30 km, this tour involves a fair amount of physical effort. The long ascent which leads from Varignano to San Giovanni al Monte, very steep at the outset, is entirely on a paved road. Then you proceed on easier forest roads through lovely woodland.

As mentioned, one stretch of the descent is, in its present condition, quite challenging: it is not exposed and the trail is quite wide, but the gradient is considerable and the surface very loose. If you would rather reduce the technical challenge of the route, you are advised to follow route 744. The scenery along the route is spectacular and you will find fresh water springs in Padaro and San Giovanni al Monte.

DH Val del Diaol - Downhill+ INFO (GPX KML)Duration: h 0:11Distance: 3,5Ascent: 0

VALLE DEL DIAOL”: a legend, pure adrenaline, a challenge with yourself. The beginning of the path is just above Nago, a few hundred metres after Malga Casina. 6,5 breathtaking kms to practice with the proper protective gear, full face helmet and gloves, on a mixed terrain, sometimes compact and fast, sometimes full of stones, smooth faces and rocks, which will test your balance. The descent ends in the industrial estate of Nago: from there you cross the fields to reach the centre of the town and then down to Torbole sul Garda.

Pier Paolo “Pippo ” Marani
Tracker of Downhill World Championship Val di Sole, his comment on this track:
"The Val del Diaol track is really one of a kind: here, you have to know
how to ride your bike. You have to be fluent, if you want to make your

758. Malga Campo (Cross Country) + INFO (GPX KML)Duration: h 6:51Distance: 39,4Ascent: 1.519

A tour characterised by the significant altitude difference. The challenging ascent, largely on asphalt leads to Malga Campo, on the slopes of Monte Stivo.

Malga Campo, on a clear day, offers a view of the Brenta Dolomites that is simply breathtaking. The route, as proposed here is almost completely on asphalt. First, you shall ride through the rural beauty of the lower Valle del Sarca to reach Drena and the lower Valle di Cavedine. Going on to be immersed in woodland via a long series of hairpin bends reaching up to Malga Campo, with an altitude of just over 1500m. Cross meadows to reach the chestnut trees of Carobbi and enjoy the smooth asphalt descent from Braila to Arco.

Despite the fact that the forrest road descent has some rough and unstable terrain, there are no particular technical difficulties. N.B. The tour is also suitable for e-bikes, if their batteries are well managed.

The starting point of the route is easily identified in Arco, using the cycle path that runs along the river Sarca.

731. Anello Garda Sarca (Cross Country) + INFO (GPX KML)Duration: h 8:30Distance: 59,4Ascent: 1.460

A long, less technical route kind of route, rideable throughout the year. It is very interesting from a landscape and cultural perspective.

The Garda Sarca loop was the first route for mountain bikers and hikers created by the Garda Trentino tourism company. Opened in 2011, it precedes the new provincial legislation which regulates the paths. This is the reason why the 731 route signs differ from the newer route signage in the area. The tour involves a good part of the Valle del Basso Sarca (the low Sarca valley) and for the distance of almost 60 km, the ascents and descents vary considerably. The distance and altitude difference make this route undoubtedly demanding. From a technical point of view, apart from a few short sections with rough and sometimes loose terrain, there are no particular difficulties. Both uphill and downhill, a gradient of 20% is reached, mostly on asphalt and in forested areas. If it has rained the terrain may be slippery, especially on the sections of cement.

In a single itinerary, you can enjoy the great variety of landscapes and trails that Garda Trentino has to offer! From the shores of the famous Lake Garda to the hidden gems of the surrounding areas.

765. Dos Casina + INFO (GPX KML)Duration: h 7:35Distance: 42,0Ascent: 1.665

A long uphill climb on the northern slopes of Monte Baldo, mostly on paved road with stunning scenery, towards peaceful pastures overlooking the Brenta Dolomites.

Monte Baldo is normally known for its extremely technical trails like the legendary ExSeicentouno. But this trail is quite simple from a technical point of view, even though it is very demanding physically.

The elevation profile speaks for itself: 1550 metres of elevation gain, largely on paved road, without any letup, with an average gradient of 10%. A total of over 1700 metres, 100 more, if you are starting from lake level. The scenery, as you climb, is simply stunning.

Once you have reached the top of Monte Varagna, a short stretch that is steep and loose, then there are easy forest trails, steep at times, but well-kept, and secondary roads in the Altopiano di Brentonico plateau. These areas, so tranquil and steeped in tradition, seem a million miles away from a crowded tourist area like Alto Garda. There are no water springs along the route and the first mountain hut you will come to is Rifugio Campei. You must therefore make sure to bring enough water to drink.

This tour is suitable also for fat bike!

The Torbole sul Garda – Sarche cycle path + INFO (GPX KML)Duration: h 1:55Distance: 24,9Ascent: 223

The Torbole-Sarche pedestrian and cycle path is one of the best-loved trails in Garda Trentino. An easy route through natural surroundings it is perfect for a relaxing bicycle trip

The Torbole - Sarche cycle path follows the River Sarca upstream, linking the lake shore with the Sarca Valley. For mountain bike lovers, it is the best way to get to the start of the many mtb tours and for all the others it is a lovely itinerary without any hazards.

But watch out, this trail is also very popular with walkers and runners, making it the busiest cycle path in Trentino.

The beauty of the landscape, the mild climate which means the cycle path is open all year round, and the fact that it allows you to get from one town in Garda Trentino to another in total safety are just some of the reasons why you can't afford to miss this trail.

Along the way you can take short detours to visit a number of different attractions, points of interest, producers and restaurants who will win you over with the flavours of the upper lake. It's an excellent way to discover the history and traditions of Garda Trentino!

Don't forget to bring your camera: with lakes, castles, woods and orchards, this is an area which sums up all the attractions of Garda Trentino!

The Mori-Riva del Garda cycle path + INFO (GPX KML)Duration: h 1:27Distance: 16,8Ascent: 164
An itinerary on the cycle path which leads from Mori, in Vallagarina, to Riva del Garda, on the northern shores of Lake Garda.

The Mori-Torbole sul Garda cycle path is a branch of the cycle path which goes from the Brennero to Verona, the “cycle path of the sun”(Ciclopista del Sole), the Italian part of a European project which aims to build a cycle path from the North Pole to Malta.

Leaving the main route, the Mori-Lake Garda cycle path gives cyclists coming from the north easy access to the shores of the lake. From Vallagarina you climb to the San Giovanni Pass and then head down again towards the Garda basin to arrive at Torbole sul Garda. The change in the landscape as you go from one valley to the other, from the vineyards of the Valle dell'Adige to the biotope of Lake Loppio and then the northern shore of Lake Garda surrounded by sheer mountains.

The cycle path does not present any particular difficulties – apart from the ascent to the San Giovanni Pass (287 m) and is suitable for anyone who is used to getting around by bicycle.

The stretch of cycle path from Riva del Garda and Torbole, with the stretch hanging out over the water, is one of the absolute musts in Garda Trentino.

772. Bike Marathon Ronda Grande + INFO (GPX KML)Duration: h 6:30Distance: 74,2Ascent: 3.066

The intermediate route of a competition held every year on the occasion of the Bike Festival. It is suited to cyclists with a high level of physical but also technical preparation.

Over a distance of 74 km and an elevation gain of nearly 2900 metres, this route is beyond the autonomy of most of the ebikes around these days. Which says a lot about the physical effort required for the Ronda Grande of the “Garda Trentino Bike Marathon”. But apart from the physical commitment, a number of stretches also require good steering technique.

The surface changes frequently: from paved road to cement, forest trails with a firm dirt track, rough tracks, single track… Basically, a bit of everything.

Given the considerable distance and the nature of the route, and even though there is signposting and the description is quite accurate, it is still advisable to download the GPS track and follow it on your device.

The shortest route of the famous Bike Marathon, part of the Riva del Garda Bike Festival is aimed at well prepared cyclists or e-bikers who enjoy climbing.

Although it is the shortest route of the "Garda Trentino Bike Marathon", the elevation profile certainly makes up for it. The climbs are considerable reaching over 20% in some sections. The terrain varies quite frequently: from asphalt and concrete to forest roads and gravel sections. You will find a little bit of everything!
Regarding the race start and finish points the first section takes you along the main road between Riva and Arco, towards Varignano. There are a couple of options to avoid this however by following the signposted routes 749 (starting from Riva or Torbole) OR route 745 (starting from Arco instead). As described, the climbs and descents are very demanding and the type of terrain must always be taken in to consideration.

In the beginning the “Ronda extrema” has the same trail like the “Ronda grande” through the Val Lomasone to Malga di Vigo, but from Sentiero dei Russi it leads first on an apparently unending trail almost 1,000 meters difference in altitude really powerfully downhill to Comano. Then another, energy sapping uphill awaits you towards Monte Casale – before the peak again quite new, magical forest trails come up towards Malga Valbona and from Prati del Granzoline at almost 1,400 meters difference in altitude and then it's time again for … the fine forest trails and meadow trails always alternating with the spectacular panorama views of the Dolomiti di Brenta. Back to Riva the route leads again on the same downhill like the two smaller rounds.

An easy ride, all downhill, which takes you from Lake Tenno to Lake Garda, through medieval villages and vineyards, with spectacular views of the lake all the way.

The tour could be the perfect way to get back after a day at the lake (bathing allowed and lifeguard service in the summer months) or exploring medieval villages (in particular Canale di Tenno, in the Club of the Most Beautiful Villages in Italy, and Frapporta, directly below Tenno Castle, and discovering local specialities (such as carne salada).

The tour is mostly on back roads where traffic is limited, apart from the stretch from Ville del Monte to Tenno where you ride down the main road and need to pay particular attention.

1. Garda Trentino Discover: from the lake shore to Sarche + INFO (GPX KML)Duration: h 4:58Distance: 64,7Ascent: 442

A lovely cycle from Lake Garda to Lake Cavedine, on cycle paths and back roads, which gives you a chance to discover all the variety of the landscape of Garda Trentino.

An easy route recommended for those who wish to explore Garda Trentino by bike. From the shores of Lake Garda, you head uphill first towards Arco, through the valley of olive groves, and then along the banks of the River Sarca through vineyards and orchards. The return trip passes by Lake Cavedine, another picturesque body of water in the area and leads to Torbole, one of the most renowned towns in Garda Trentino.

This itinerary gives you the chance to enjoy the diversity and richness of the landscape in Garda Trentino, from a typical Mediterranean setting to a more Alpine environment, passing through the Marocche, also known as the “valleys of the Moon”(valli della Luna). It is a protected nature reserve, an utterly unique landscape, one of the largest post-glacial landslides in the entire Alps with an arid climate completely different from the surrounding area.

Don't forget to bring your camera: with lakes, castles, woods and orchards, this is an area which sums up all the attractions of Garda Trentino!

3.2. Cycling through the Sarca Valley: from Arco to Fies + INFO (GPX KML)Duration: h 1:27Distance: 19,0Ascent: 96

This tour, which is easy and suitable for all, is a variation on route number 3. Here the return trip is through the orchards around Dro in the heart of the Sarca Valley

This itinerary winds along the Sarca Valley and involves very little elevation gain. This means it really is suitable for all, even those who are not particularly fit and are looking for an easy route to enjoy a few hours on a bicycle. The landscape is very pleasant and relaxing, with the peaceful current of the River Sarca and a series of orchards along the route.

Along the river banks you will also come across educational information panels: you are in the Sarca River Park, a reserve along the entire length of the river from its source in Val Rendena to the point where it flows into Lake Garda.

Even your arrival point is in a nature reserve: the Marocche is a biotope, an area which is protected because of its unique features. This post-glacial landslide, the largest in the entire Alps, is an extremely peculiar environment where you will find plants and animals that have had to adapt to these specific conditions.

In summer be sure to bring your swimsuit: underneath the Roman bridge in Ceniga there is a little beach, ideal for cooling down after your bicycle ride

4.The Sarca Valley and Lake Cavedine (from Arco to Sarche) + INFO (GPX KML)Duration: h 2:48Distance: 37,1Ascent: 231

This route takes you on a tour of the northern part of Garda Trentino. Starting from Arco you get as far as Sarche and Lake Cavedine before heading back to the departure point.

The itinerary follows the course of the River Sarca. Starting in Arco, you cycle up the river valley as far as Sarche. On the way back, you pass by Lake Cavedine, a small body of water near the Marocche.

The route generally follows the cycle path running along the river bank through farmland and orchards, mostly apples but also plums, and vineyards. You are in the heart of the Sarca Valley, an area with a long tradition of farming. On the way back however, at the northern end, you head towards Lake Cavedine. The lake was formed by the damming of the river by the Marocche landslide and today it is a natural oasis much loved by fishermen and sports lovers.

The itinerary presents no particular difficulties, apart from a short uphill stretch on a cement road where you can always simply get off and push your bike.

2. In the heart of Garda Trentino: the "giro della Busa" loop + INFO (GPX KML)Duration: h 1:33Distance: 19,8Ascent: 152

An excursion among olive groves and vineyards, suitable for everybody without much elevation gain to take you on a tour of the main towns of Garda Trentino: Riva del Garda, Arco and Torbole

The fairly flat area to the north of Lake Garda is called “Busa” which means 'hole' in local dialect. The reason is self-explanatory: this part of Garda Trentino is surrounded by mountains so that it looks like a hole has been dug out of the landscape above the lake.

This is an itinerary which follows the perimeter of this area, running along cycle paths and back roads. The ideal trail for anyone interested in exploring this area of Garda Trentino by bicycle, enjoying the variety of landscape and passing through the little hamlets which are dotted around the countryside, away from the traffic of the main roads.

Along the way you will come across all manner of places of interest: attractions, monuments, restaurants and producers where you can always stop off to find out more or have a taste and learn about the history and traditions of Garda Trentino as well as the main players. Choose the theme you like best and start pedalling: you will discover that even the simplest route can be full of surprises.

Don't forget your camera. There is no end of places to take souvenir photos. And please feel free to share your memories with #GardaTrentino

6. From the River Adige to Lake Garda along the cycle path + INFO (GPX KML)Duration: h 1:06Distance: 13,0Ascent: 115

Itinerary along the cycle path which links Vallagarina (in particular, Mori ) to Torbole sul Garda: an easy route and one of the most popular in Trentino.

The Mori-Torbole sul Garda cycle path is a branch of the cycle path which goes from the Brennero to Verona, the “cycle path of the sun” (Ciclopista del Sole), the Italian part of a European project which aims to build a cycle path from the North Pole to Malta.

5. From Riva del Garda to Torbole, around Monte Brione + INFO (GPX KML)Duration: h 1:02Distance: 13,2Ascent: 47

This itinerary is perfect for a relaxing ride in a flat area near to the main towns. This makes it ideal for anyone who wants to take small children on their first bicycle trip.

This itinerary is a loop around Monte Brione, the spur of rock which separates Riva del Garda from Torbole and is the unmistakeable profile of Garda Trentino. It is mainly a ride through built up areas, running along cycle paths and back roads which cut across the countryside at the foot of the mountain.
Since the entire route is on the flat, this tour presents no difficulties of any kind and is even suitable for small children as long as you watch out when crossing the roads.

The stretch of the cycle path which links Torbole and Riva del Garda is without doubt one of the most popular with visitors and residents for the marvellous views it affords over Lake Garda. It is particularly busy in the summer season so watch out for the people walking along the cycle path or crossing it to get to the beach.

Stop off in one of the bars along the beach for an aperitivo or delicious ice cream with a lake view. What better way to wind up your bike ride?

7.2 From Lake Tenno to San Martino archeological site (Campi) + INFO (GPX KML)Duration: h 1:07Distance: 5,3Ascent: 272

This short itinerary, all uphill, brings you to the hamlet of Campi, little known because it is hidden in a mountain valley, and then on to the San Martino archeological site.

This route starts at Lake Tenno which you can get to in the summer months by BiciBusTrek shuttle, and winds up the slopes on the western side of Garda Trentino where the mountains plunge sheer into the lake.

The itinerary follows provincial road 37 which leads from the junction at the car park by the lake as far as Campi and the San Martino archeological site above. This is a little known area in Garda Trentino but well worth the visit.

The road winds among chestnut woods and climbs towards Campi, a little hamlet of Riva del Garda nestled in a green dale among the mountains. This small village has retained its rural character thanks to the traditional stone houses with their wooden floors. The arrival point is the San Martino archeological site, one of the most important in the area, at about 800 metres above sea level. From here you have a marvellous view of the Tenno area.

737. Lago di Tenno (Cross Country) + INFO (GPX KML)Duration: h 3:15Distance: 22,5Ascent: 570

A tour aimed at those with good preparation or on an e-bike who want to avoid technical routes and do not mind peddling on asphalt.

This tour can be enjoyed all year round and although 600 meters is an altitude difference accessible to many, there are long stretches of climbing at approximately 10%, with few opportunities to rest. The route, for the most part is on asphalt and the remainder, on dirt or cobbled roads in good condition. From a technical point of view the route is suitable for all abilities. However, attention must be paid to road crossings and descents especially.

Along the way you will have the opportunity to admire the stunning scenery of Garda Trentino, surrounded by olive trees, vines and chestnut trees. Lake Tenno is one of the most beautiful in the area, and even though the route doesn’t go there directly, it’s a definite must-see. And during the summer it’s possible to take a refreshing dip too.

In summer it is a joy to swim in the waters of Lake Tenno. However, it is forbidden to ride bikes along the shoreline.

742. Tenno - Vespana - San Giovanni + INFO (GPX KML)Duration: h 6:25Distance: 34,1Ascent: 1.562

A challenging route from Garda Trentino which will test your legs and bike handling skills. A throughly satisfying day out with beautiful panoramic views of Alto Garda.

Route 742 has been classified as ‘All Mountain’. However, it has some climbs worthy of a Cross Country bike. There is a particular downhill section that, in its current state, could be prohibitive with an Enduro bike. The route rewards you with beautiful views of High Garda with its typical Mediterranean vegetation and many alpine forests which blanket the mountains of Calino, Misone and Biaina.

The route can be enjoyed for most of the year and during recent winters it seems to have been less affected by snow. The total altitude difference is just over 1300m, with climbs that in some places exceed 15%. Along with diverse terrain; long tarmac stretches, steep cemented ramps, cobblestone, dirt road, single track and scree.

The route takes you close to the beautiful village of Canale di Tenno. If you have never been then it is definitely worthy of a visit.

735. The Original Adrenalina (Cross Country) + INFO (GPX KML)Duration: h 2:59Distance: 16,6Ascent: 639

A Cross Country route around Monte Tombio returning via the “Pinza" descent: a very steep historical road that offers magnificent views of Riva del Garda.

The total altitude difference of route 735 is just under 650 meters and alternates between asphalt and disused dirt roads. Rare are the moments where you can rest your legs with gradients that continue to vary - reaching just over 15% in some sections.
The proposed descent is called “Pinza", which has featured as a segment in the famous "Adrenaline" race. In its initial stretch, the old dirt / gravel road is fairly flowing with a gradient that gradually increases. In the second half it reaches 20% over long cemented sections. Some slightly exposed points, offer remarkable views. Given the gradients mentioned above, it is essential to always check your speed using both brakes, especially when wet and during the autumn season.

With a small detour, you can visit the quaint village of Pranzo, where there is also a cool fountain near the church.

770. On the Monte Brione (All Mountain) - Mountain bike + INFO (GPX KML)Duration: h 1:15Distance: 7,6Ascent: 269

From any point of Alto Garda you can see the hill of Monte Brione in the centre of the valley. It makes for a lovely walk, but here we tell you how to visit on two wheels!

The route develops largely among olive groves, reaching one of the best historical points of interest in Alto Garda: ‘Batteria di Mezzo’, a military battery at the centre of the Austro-Hungarian defensive system of Alto Garda (Festung Abschnitt). In addition to this battery, the defence line included the other nearby forts of San Nicolò, Garda and Sant’Alessandro (near to the summit).

The proposed descent to the village of Sant’Alessandro itself, in its first stretch, is rather technical with steps, and some loose, fairly sized rocks. In all - the descent is approximately 300 metres, and we would advise those who aren’t confident with technical descents to ‘walk the bike’ down or simply return via the way of arrival.

If you do choose to tackle the descent, remember that this route is also frequented by many hikers, therefore please moderate your speed and give them priority.

Monte Brione was considered a strategic point for the control of the Austro-Hungarian border, and climbing up, it is easy to understand the reason.

738. Lago di Tenno - Ballino + INFO (GPX KML)Duration: h 1:21Distance: 9,3Ascent: 227

A short loop for everyone around one of the pearls of Trentino: Lake Tenno. Famous for its colour, it’s the ideal destination in every season.

This route is suited to a day of leisure and relaxation where a swim in the clear waters of Lake Tenno can be enjoyed. Or perhaps as a complement to one of the other route itineraries; 736, 737 or 739.
Much of the initial climbing develops along the main road that leads to the Ballino Pass. Despite the fact that the route starts out on the asphalt, the lake’s beauty can still be admired from afar. The gradients throughout vary but never exceed 10%. Then again, the climb to reach the forest in the Castil area requires a good effort! From here, you continue on an easy forest road through the woods, until you reach the beautiful Lake of Tenno. The descent has no particular difficultiesexcept the terrain is sometimes a bit loose and there are two barriers to overcome on the sides of the road.

756. Passo S. Uldarico + INFO (GPX KML)Duration: h 2:34Distance: 17,0Ascent: 467

A short loop around the small mountain which divides the valley of Cavedine and its homonymous lake. With the exception of a short unstable section, the route is fairly easy going.

With a length of 17km and an altitude difference of just under 550 meters, this tour is suitable for most abilities.
As anticipated, the last part of the descent is the most challenging due to a single stretch of bumpy terrain. The rest of the route develops on quiet secondary roads, easy gravel tracks and short stretches along the provincial roads of Cavedine.

This is a very quiet, rural area - where the influence of tourism is rarely perceived. Enjoyable all year round , the route leads from Val di Cavedine, located at the foot of Monte Bondone, to the Sarca Valley. Lake Cavedine is certainly a sight to behold with the Brento and Casale mountain groupsin the background. A short loop, rideable all year round, with two short sections of interesting descent. You’ll be immersed in a unique, sometimes lunar feeling landscape: The Marocche.

The route develops in a very tranquil area: between the Sarca Valley and the basin of Lake Cavedine. The route doesn’t present particular technical difficulties, apart from a few short distances of rough ground, with some rather pronounced and sometimes loose rocks and gravel. However, with a minimum of confidence on this type of terrain, the two descents, even if short will leave a smile on your face. For the majority of the ascent, you’ll be riding on the bike path that runs along the river Sarca or, in the case of Lake Cavedine - on small, quiet roads. A short loop within everyone’s capabilities, in the quiet area of Lake Cavedine, up to Monte Taglio di Sarca. This is an itinerary that is never demanding.

With a length of 9km and just over 100 meters altitude difference, the route is suitable for everyone. And if desired you can always make it longer by connecting it with route number 753. In this case, it is advised to start with 753, then continue on to 754 where their two paths meet.

From a technical point of view, the route develops largely on secondary roads and cycle paths: a mostly traffic free experience being one of the benefits. The final part of the gravel road, which leads from Monte Taglio di Sarca to the lake, does not present any particular technical difficulties. In fact, the only real challenging parts can be found when ascending on the sometimes rather pronounced and unstable terrain.

762. New Velo Classic + INFO (GPX KML)Duration: h 6:37Distance: 34,6Ascent: 1.350

As the name suggests, this is a classic route for local cyclists: from the slopes of Monte Stivo to the spectacular Passo Due Sassi.

With a total altitude difference 1340m, and an almost constant gradient of 10%, this route can’t honestly be considered suitable for all abilities. However, one can always make life easier with an e-bike and good management of its batteries.

The beautiful landscapes that characterise this route have led it to be considered as a "classic" among the Garda Trentino itineraries. The first 600m of climbing is ridden on a paved road, continuing on to an easy forest path. In terms of descent, the stretch from Santa Barbara to Malga Fiavei is rather bumpy. However, once past the Malga (hut) it becomes more stable and pleasant to ride on, returning to asphalt near to the valley floor.

At Passo Due Sassi, every cyclist stops for a moment to take a photo of themselves against the splendid panorama towards Lake Garda. It is a must!

A technical and very challenging enduro tour. The route develops on steep slopes and in the woods overlooking the area of Varignano.

The descent proposed here has only recently been included in the official Garda Trentino MTB route network, and is used by both bikers and hikers. The path is well known to locals who love to challenge their technical abilities. But, as a result it’s known by more than one name. Also, due to its recent addition it has not yet been possible to work on, and improve the ridability of the terrain. The path is not heavily used and in some stretches it has obviously been neglected. There are alternate stretches of pronounced, stable rocks, steps, and sections on loose gravel. There is even an old tree trunk for you to hurdle over! Regarding the ascent: it develops over 9 km, of which around 5km are on asphalt - guiding you to various panoramic view points of Alto Garda. The average gradient is around 10%, which initially varies quite a lot. There are also some short cemented sections where the gradient reaches over 20%, to continue on at more of a constant.

Starting from the highest point along the whole route, i.e. the village of Tenno. You will contend first with the descent, then the ascent: drawing a ring around the cliff on which Tenno Castle stands. The closure of a passage in the valley of the Dos delle Strie has forced a partial modification of the route, depriving it of a short - but enjoyable part of gravel road. From a technical point of view, this route is accessible to practically everyone. Here you will discover the first very technical section of terrain: due to its morphology, and of course - gradient. One section in particular is difficult to cross due to a landslide, meaning the terrain is loose with little possibility for improvement.

The second stretch of descent on a dirt / gravel road, although quite steep and sometimes loose in sections, does not present any significant technical difficulties. Keep in mind however, that the various cemented sections when wet, or during the autumn period can prove more of a challenge due to loss of traction.

A short loop suitable for everyone, which leads you to discover the rural areas on the left side of the Sarca valley.

A tour of around 8 kilometres between the quiet valley of Cavedine and the chestnut groves towards Braila. With just over 300 meters altitude gain and no technical difficulty, the route is accessible to everyone. It can also be considered as a complement to the route 756. Both of these itineraries have the same starting point. However, from the locality of Luch the 755 diverges in the opposite direction.

At the end of the ride you can enjoy a well earned refreshment or snack from the kiosk in the car park.

753. Cavedine Valley (Cross Country) + INFO (GPX KML)Duration: h 1:45Distance: 13,8Ascent: 348

If the initial 10% climb on asphalt does not intimidate you, then this short tour will give you the opportunity to admire the tranquil beauty of Lake Cavedine.

An all-year-round tour, suitable even for gravel bikes - if a bit of loose terrain doesn’t bother you. The initial climb, which leads from lake Cavedine to the archaeological area, is all on asphalt. Although the length of the ride is rather short, it would be wise - especially during the hottest periods, to prioritise your personal water supply, as there are no fountains en-route.

The upper part of the route develops on an old block pavement, with some rather rough sections, in the vicinity of some interesting archaeological sites. The descent will be mostly on asphalt with the exception of a short gravel section.

739. Mena Tour + INFO (GPX KML)Duration: h 1:31Distance: 7,9Ascent: 285

A very short route but with a steep ascent and an all-round technical trail. Despite its short distance, the road surface varies continually, ensuring fun all the way.

A loop just 8 km long in the marvellous surroundings of Lake Tenno. Though short, this route has a challenging ascent and an interesting downhill run which should not be underestimated. The initial climb is on a road with a gradient of 15%, then the trail continues on an easy forestry road until it comes to the start of the single track which finishes not far from lovely Lake Tenno. Though short, this trail has a number of passages which require good control of the bike if you are to do them in safety.

The lake is famous for its colours and the purity of its water; in the summer it is a fantastic spot for a swim. Finally, you cross what is probably the most famous medieval village in Alto Garda, Canale di Tenno. Near the highest point of the climb, if you continue for another 1.5 km and little more than 100 metres in elevation gain, you will come to the mountain hut Rifugio San Pietro, situated on a natural terrace overlooking Lake Garda.

Naranch Trail - Mountain bike + INFO (GPX KML)Duration: h 0:33Distance: 4,1Ascent: 130

Trail 5km long , difficulty 6/10 , classic enduro trail also suited to less expert riders. In fact, this is the most accessible enduro trail in all of Garda Trentino. The first part (as far as Maso Naranch) is fairly wide and easy. The first stretch is more a single trail for about 400 metres which then widens out more than a metre for 800 metres. Just before Maso there is the only rock Garden section which you should evaluate before taking it on.
Below Maso the trail is narrower and full of narrow bends with natural footholds, most of it in a little valley between two ridges and coming out onto a tarmac road which leads to Nago.

The trails all runs through the woods on not too rocky flow terrain.

761. Velo - Maso Naranch (Enduro/All Mountain) - Mountain bike + INFO (GPX KML)Duration: h 7:14Distance: 36,6Ascent: 1.600

A physically challenging route with spectacular scenery, perfect for those looking for downhill runs on natural technical trails. Good steering technique and confidence on steep downhill runs is essential.

This tour can generally be done from April to November, with its 1500 m of elevation gain over a total of around 37 km which makes it quite demanding, physically speaking. But it is not a trail you want to underestimate in technical terms either, and actually, this is probably the aspect you need to consider most carefully. One stretch of the downhill run is along the Naranch Trail, a trail which has been popular for some years now with gravity lovers in the area.

Since it was opened, there have been a series of extreme weather events which have made considerable modifications to the initial condition of the trail. Apart from the fact that it is so steep, the surface has been washed away to expose a lot of roots and rocks. The signposting has gone missing at various intersections on a number of occasions, so just to be sure, a gps device could prove useful.

A tour with a breathtaking panorama but very challenging, also from a technical point of view. The ascent as proposed here, without the aid of pedal assist, is virtually impossible.

As already mentioned, the tour as it is proposed here is mainly intended for e-mountain bikes, given the uphill gradients involved. This however does not at all mean that it is a tour for everyone, especially in the downhill stretch from Passo Rocchetta to Malga Palaer, where good steering technique is a must on several parts. The panoramas which can be enjoyed are truly spectacular and, if you are riding a traditional mountain bike, you can consider taking an alternative ascent route. For example, the routes in Val di Ledro, which can also be found on this portal, include the tour “Bocca dei Fortini – Passo Guil”. The ascent is challenging here too, but more accessible without the help of a motor. In this case, once you reach Pre, follow directions for Lake Ledro. When you come to the lake, keep to the left and you will come to the starting point for the alternative ascent suggested. From the Guil Pass you can pick up directions for the 733.

WARNING! Steep gradient at Leano.

Quite a considerable elevation gain without any particular technical difficulties to take you to one of the classic destinations for cyclists in the area: San Giovanni.

If you don’t mind long ascents on the road, this tour offers a bird’s eye view of the Sarca Valley and the chance to earn yourself a meal with a view of the lake. The descent is for the most part on easy forest roads towards the Tenno area through marvellous woodland which means the scenery changes dramatically from one season to another.

With minor variations you can also easily reach points of interest like Lake Tenno, the medieval village of Canale, the mountain hut Rifugio San Pietro, and more. This route can be done from early spring to late autumn. In recent years, it has also become possible to do it even during the winter period, especially if you go with a pedal assist bike.

This is a route which covers a distance of over 50 km and 1360 m of elevation gain, without any particular technical difficulties, apart from some steep stretches on forest trails.

The route described here takes you around the quiet Lomaso area and then back to Garda, largely on cycle paths and side roads in the Sarca Valley. Over 50 km of trail with significant uphill and downhill gradients. Long stretches of paved road alternate with dirt tracks which are generally in good condition.

There are breathtaking panoramas on both sides: on one side overlook the lower Sarca Valley, while from the other you can see the Brenta Dolomites. If steep gradients are not a problem, and if you are well able to manage the brakes, you could even do it on a gravel bike. Given the weather conditions in recent years, this route can be done for most of the year.

736. Tenno Tour (Cross Country) - Mountain bike + INFO (GPX KML)Duration: h 1:40Distance: 10,3Ascent: 245

Technically a very easy tour, largely on paved road, which you can easily do even on a gravel bike, while enjoying the pictoresque surroundings overlooking lake Garda.

The loop proposed here starts out at the highest point on the route at the Lake Tenno car park.

This means that the first section is generally downhill, on minor roads in areas with little traffic and cross country, and then the trail climbs again to the starting point.

From a technical point of view it is a trail accessible to practically everybody. It is fairly easy from a physical point of view too, with a total distance of around 10 km and elevation of just under 400 m. If you want to do it together with another short tour, using the same starting and arrival point at Lake Tenno, you might want to consider route 738 or the more technical and challenging 739.

This itinerary touches on picturesque villages in the Tenno area, little stone houses huddled together and there are stunning views along the way.

In summer, at the end of the tour, reward yourself with a dip in Lake Tenno, just a few minutes on foot from your departure point.

743. Mandrea - Bocca di Tovo - Tenno (All Mountain) - Mountain bike + INFO (GPX KML)Duration: h 7:37Distance: 35,3Ascent: 3.090

This is a challenging tour and greatly rewarding in terms of scenery and natural surroundings. Certain gradients must not be underestimated, even if you are using pedal assist.

The ascent which takes you from the olive groves of Arco towards Padaro is a tough one. Stretches of dirt road and cement road alternate and the gradient can exceed 20% in places. Then there is a long stretch with a gradient of close to 10% before continuing the climb on a well-tended forestry trail.

The first stretch of the descent is quite technical, initially on a rocky surface, loose in points and with some steps. Then the surface becomes gradually smoother and more stable with a series of sharp narrow turns. Once you get past this point, there are no more particularly technical parts and you will cover several stretches on paved road punctuated by some short ascents. Given the weather conditions of recent years, this trail is open all year round. If you have a limited supply of water on the uphill stretch, you are advised to fill up at the fountain you will find at the entrance to the village of Padaro.

A tour which can be done over most of the year, not very long, but challenging from a physical and technical point of view. You need to have good steering technique and experience on steep runs.

An elevation gain of just under 1000 m and a total distance of about 20 km for a tour which present a number of diffiuclties on both uphill and downhill runs. The average gradient on the uphill stretch which takes you from Bolognano to Malga Fiavei is 12-13% without a moment’s respite. After the pasture the gradient doesn’t change but the going is much rougher, at times loose.

Once you get to Maso Naranch, what we propose here is the lower section of the Naranch Trail, well known to gravity enthusiasts in this area. Since it was reopened, there have been a number of severe weather events which have made considerable modifications to the initial conditions of the trail. Apart from being very steep, roots and rocks have recently been exposed. 746. Passo della Morte (All Mountain/Enduro) - Mountain bike + INFO (GPX KML)Duration: h 9:53Distance: 58,1Ascent: 2.524

The elevation gain and distance involved make this quite a challenging tour; the route also presents some technical complications on certain steep stretches on loose rocky terrain.

With an elevation gain of over 1700 m, stretches of steep gradient and a distance of 56 km, this tour needs some serious preparation.

Particularly on the western slopes of Mount Brento and Mount Casale, a gps device could come in really useful.

If you plan to do it on an emtb, bearing in mind the average autonomy of the batteries currently available on the market, you need to manage consumption carefully.

On the downhill run, as already mentioned, the terrain may be treacherous as it is very rough and loose in certain sections. Once you get down to the Lower Sarca Valley, your return trip to Arco will be mostly on cycle paths.

Hidden Treasures: The Chestnut Trail - All mountain + INFO (GPX KML)Duration: h 3:00Distance: 6,9Ascent: 341

This trail runs around the vale of Campi, a small mountain hamlet outside Riva del Garda: the focus of the walk are the monumental chestnut trees which have dominated this landscape for hundreds of years.

This is a hike in the form of a loop which joins up five of the chestnut groves in the Campi district, immersed in a lush green vale between Monte Tombio and Monte Parì.

Campi - subdivided into a more densely populated centre and small clusters of houses which often bear the name of local families – is a hamlet which belongs to the municipality of Riva del Garda, nestled in a sheltered vale at the feet of the mountains. Situated on the road which connects Garda Trentino, Valle di Ledro and Giudicarie, the area has been inhabited and contested since before Roman times thanks to its strategic position. Today it is along the route of many hiking and mtb trails which wind along tracks and forestry roads in the surrounding woods.

A gastronomic stopoff point you can't afford to miss after the hike is Capanna Grassi, a mountain hut you can also get to by car which serves traditional local food which is wholesome and tasty.

Did you know? The "marone" is similar to a sweet chestnut but has larger dimensions and a different shape at the base.

Hidden Treasures: The old "road to the castle" in Drena - Hiking trail+ INFO (GPX KML)Duration: h 1:37Distance: 4,5Ascent: 248

An easy walk that takes you from the protected area Marocche in Dro up to Drena Castle along an ancient mule track dating back to the Middle Ages.

This itinerary starts in the protected area the Marocche (Dro) where it first climbs to Drena Caste along the old “Roman road”, a medieval mule track, and from there to the chapel of Madonna di Fatima where there is a spectacular view of the hamlet and castle from above.

The Marocche is an area which is protected because of its unique geology and natural environment: it is in fact, the largest postglacial landslide in the entire Alps, an imposing mass of rocky material forming a lunar landscape, the habitat of plants and animals which have adapted to the particular aridity of the environment.

Drena Castle, which once belonged to the counts of Arco, is mentioned as far back as the 12th century and used to enclose the road for Cavedine, one of the few roads at the time connecting the Garda area with Trento.

For this very reason it was destroyed by General Vendòme in 1703. Recently restored, it now houses a little museum which displays archaeological finds.

In the Marocche area you can even see dinosaur tracks, easily accessible from the car park on the road to Lake Cavedine.
